My Personal Values Of An Organization That I m Working...

There are many different types of values. For example: cultural, ethical, doctrinal, social, societal, and aesthetic – just to name few. We are all influenced by them on a personal level and also on an institutional level. In this paper, I will compare my personal values to the vision of an organization that I’m working for. Furthermore, I will explore how my personal values are compatible with values of my employer. Then I will look at how I am implementing those values at my workplace by looking at how my value â€Å"respect of others† influence my decision-making at work: next, how my value â€Å"orderliness† is improving my productivity; and how my â€Å"inner harmony† contribute to well-being of patients and ultimately organization that I’m employed by. Likewise, I will show how I grew as a nurse since starting this RN to BSN program at SNHU. In addition, I will provide supporting evidence for analysis throughout this writing. Some prominent theories include Social Disorganization theory, Differential Social Organization theory, Social Control theory, and Differential Association theory. So it will little bit problem for Thai people to work in USA. Individualism versus communitarianism: - Human beings are characterized by individualism as human beings whereas communitarians see humanity as a part of a team or group. Trompenaars conveys that the culture of individualist is related to the concepts of the western world (INTERCULTURE, 2013). On the other hand the culture of communitarian is associated with countries that are non-western. The change in culture happens continuously, sometimes the change happens very fast that people do not realize. USA people used to live there live in their own way. For example if they want to go for lunch then they can go alone but Thai people will find friends and go for lunch with them. Thai people usually dont do most of the things alone. Neutral versus emotional: As per Mulyanah Hum, emotions are controlled in neutral. On the other hand emotions are spontaneously and openly expressed in the emotional culture. In neutral culture it is not appreciable to laugh loudly, get angry or display any other outbursts of emotions (Mulyanah Hum, 2013). This kind of behaviour is allowed in the emotional culture where people can greet each other, laugh and talk loudly. People belonging to the neutral culture may get deterred while doing business with people from emotional culture due to the formers behaviour. USA people dont show their emotion so easily but Thai people expressed openly and naturally. This thing Thai manager should take care if he is going to work in USA. Specific versus diffuse: - Individuals from USA culture share their big public space with others. Associates and good friends also share the private space of certain individuals from certain culture. They are approached informally by people in public as well as private space (Sidhpuria et al, 2014). The public and private space in Thai culture is interwoven. The people belonging to the diffuse culture will defend their private space as it shall make it easy to access public space. People belonging to the diffuse culture give a lot of importance to formality. Achievement versus ascription: - The status achieved i.e. achievement versus the status of ascribed is determined by this section. In USA culture that is achievement oriented, the worth of a person is determined based on the performances and the quality of their performance. According to Singh, Dudwe Verma, in a status where there is ascribed status, the basic is regarding the person in account. The position of the individual is determined by the gender, age, origin, career or position of a person (Singh, Dudwe Verma, 2016). When an individual from Thai culture that is oriented towards achievement has business with an individual belonging to the culture that is ascription oriented, people with more experience and age who are more familiar with the manners and customs that are formal should be deployed who admire established titles. Internal direction versus outer direction:- Here the focus is on the experience of the environment of the people such as if the environment can poses a threat which is external or whether it is right to mobilise with the determinants which are caused by the society that is internal. From culture to culture the experience of the people regarding their environment differs. In USA people are directed outwards and they give efforts in controlling their environment to the maximum possible extent (Cunha Santos, 2014). On the other hand the people belonging to Thai cultures give importance to live in harmony with the environment which is uncontrolled or cannot be influenced. Hence, individuals need to adapt themselves to these kinds of environments if they are from Thai. Conflict Management The employees from different cultures have behaviours which are constructed with respect to their culture. Events of disputes and conflicts are common in this kind of scenario during communication happening between people. As per Martn, people have their own sets of views and perception regarding their ways to manage that conflict (Martn, 2013). Conflict is the struggles in between inter dependent groups or parties having no compatible goals or any needs which are not met. In other words, the implicit or explicit struggle of emotions or frustrations between people belonging to different cultures over goals that are not compatible, values, norms, scarce resource, face concerns, and outcomes regarding communication can be stated as conflict. The way of managing conflicts is more important than whether an individual is engaged in it initially (Chauhan, 2015). A conflict in an organisation having employees from diverse cultures can be resolved by the following approaches: - dispositional, situational and systems. In case of dispositional approach, conflict behaviours that are individualised are emphasized. In this case, individuals adapt behaviours of conflict through the process of socialization in addition with the personality traits if individuals. These traits can have extensions to the cultural level because some culture members would reflect specific characteristics systematically. In situational approach the conflict topic is given importance along with the relation type, situation, time pressure, goals of communication with conflicts. Every single of these factors play crucial role in whether engagement in the conflict is taking place or avoidance is taking place completely. The approach of systems is the amalgamation of the above two factors (Koskinen, 2015). In this case the differences are recognised individually and take place due to the personal disposition and socialization, however. The situation as referred as influencing conflict. The conflict, in the case of avoidance, is simply dodged. This determines low self-concern as individual needs are neither addressed nor met. Avoidance cannot actually resolve the conflict. Relationships There are several ways to build formal relationships with people belonging to different cultures in an organisation. Firstly, a conscious decision has to be taken in order to make people from other cultures as friends. As per Koskinen, then one needs to place oneself in situations where meeting with people belongings to other cultures is possible. Then it is required to examine the biases regarding the people from different cultures followed by enquiring about the cultures, customs and views of their culture (Koskinen, 2015). One can read and study the culture and histories of other people. Listening to the stories of people and noticing their style of communication is also vital during this process. The management can set networks and establish institutions and coalition where people can be committed to form alliances and relationships with people belonging to diverse backgrounds and culture. Conclusion The management of an organization having people belonging to different cultural background can be successful if the manager imbibes leadership that is effective by accepting and respecting the culture of the country where he or she goes to work. The importance of relationship is described which is vital for healthy survival of any organisation. The process to build healthy relationship with people from Thai culture is mentioned. The Titanic Is One Of The Greatest And Most Known Boat Disaster In His

The Titanic is one of the greatest and most known boat disaster in history. On April 19, 1912, the Titanic was making good time towards New York, when it scraped against an iceberg. It sunk three hours later, before any boats could come and rescue the passengers still aboard. As we look back on the disaster today, we see many ways in which the tragedy might have been prevented, or lessened in severity. On April 19, the Titanic scraped against an iceberg leaving six big holes. They measured six feet long, six feet wide, and were located on the left side of the boat. The Titanic was originally designed so three of her twelve air-tight compartments could be filled with water and she would still be able to float. When the holes were created though, six of the compartments were filled, and the boat began to sink (Titanic 1). Hours before they reached the danger zone, Titanics crew was warned several times about the ice, and advised to slow down, or take another route. After two hours of the warnings, the wireless messaging system was turned off so that they would not have to listen to, or to the warnings, and they continued in the same direction at the same speed as before (Ballard, Robert). The Titanic was a great ship at its time said Rebecca Renkola (Kelly Thomas). That is part of the reason why the disaster occurred. People thought it was unsinkable, so they made no special precautions. For example, there were only the minimum required number of lifeboats aboard, and when the boat sank, the average number aboard was twenty-eight, when the maximum capacity was sixty. The day before she sunk, the lifeboat drill was canceled because of the belief that the boat could and would not sink. If they had had the lifeboat drill, more people might have been boarded into the lifeboats, and more lives might have been saved,said Rebecca Renkola (Kelly Thomas). Another way the disaster could have been prevented, was that if the crew had slowed the boat down, and not tried to show off by arriving early in New York, the boat might have been able to steer clear of the ice.. The belief most people have in how the Titanic sank, is because it hit an iceberg, Causing six holes, and then sank. But is that really what happened? According to a legend, the mummy of Princess of Amen-Ra, was thrown into the Nile River, and then found by four English men hundreds of years later. They transported the mummy to England, and within a week, every one of them died supposedly because of a curse. Once in England, the mummy was moved to a museum, but everyone who helped died just like the Four English men. Finally, after costing many lives, the mummy was placed on display. Still the restless spirit haunted the museum by ruining other exhibits,and killing the watchman at night. Eventually, the museum management sold the mummy to an English collector. Knowing that it would not be taken aboard the boat, he arranged for it to be hidden in the body of an automobile which was also bound for New York. On the day of her maiden voyage, the English man boarded with the boat with other first class passengers, and the voyage began. On April 19, knowing that there was no way to discard the mummy, the English man told the other passengers about his cursed cargo. Immediately, the boat picked up its speed and changed course. In a few hours, the boat struck an iceberg and began to sink to its present position at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. The boats name was the Titanic (Titanic 2). The majority of the survivors were women and children. In the first class, 54 men and 145 women survived, leaving 119 men and 11 women dead. In the second class, 15 men and 104 women survived, but 142 men, and 24 women were never accounted for. In the third class, the number of surviving men was 69 and for women 105, but 417 men and 119 women lost their lives. Titanics crew was made of 876 men, and the water 682 lives (Kelly Thomas).

The conflict in the story revolves around his dilemma to cope with the abrupt changes which took place overnight. In physique, he looks like an old man, but he is still a 13 year old boy mentally and emotionally. Thus he had the difficulty to mingle with gown up people, including his problem in getting a job and engaging in romantic relationships (Internet Movie Database). Certain conflicts happened during the course of the story. First, is brought by the abrupt changes in his physique which would prompt the boy to act according to his new appearance. Second, his integration amongst the adults while he still continues to have his kid best friend also adds up to his identity dilemma. And third, due to these conflicts, he is torn between opting to remain as an adult with his found girlfriend, or whether he must return to his old kid self. To address these conflicts, one must look at the reason why it started. The conflicts all started with one wish. When Josh wished he would be a grown up, and it suddenly came true, ignited all the conflicts. Hence, the reason that pushed him into making that wish is essential in the story. What prompted the wish? His seemingly troubled character and the pressures that he usually gets from his parents made him wish to become bigger and independent. The crisis that he is experiencing as a childhood made him to want to become a grown up, and explore the world the way that he isn’t allowed to do while he is still a teenager. This only shows the great importance that parents play in a child’s development most importantly in his adolescent years. Families, particularly parents, hold a vital part in a child’s rearing. Their influences, serve as either an inspiration to their children; or it creates a negative impact, such as pressure for the child. Thus, it is necessary that they get a closer look into the child’s thoughts and emotions for them to be able to properly guide the child towards his adolescent years. Moreover, as shown in the movie, Josh’ struggle to fit into the new world of adults is a proof that the gap in his adolescent growth made him unequipped to cope with the more complicated world of adults. This gap in his growth, both in biological and emotional aspects, rendered him the incapability to properly adjust to the bigger world. This instance shows the utter importance of identity development during adolescent years. Hence this proves that the social transitions that adolescents encounter are rigid part of one’s identity. In addition, the dilemma of being an adult while continuing the childlike behavior that Josh still keeps in the company of his best friend is another facet for his dilemma. The crisis on whether he should act as an adult, or still maintain the inner kid that he really adds more to his identity problem. Given these situations and identity crisis that were shown in the movie, it is necessary to stress the absolute importance of parenting roles in the development of a child’s identity, most especially if he is in his critical adolescent years. First, the parents must avoid letting the kid feel pressured. Parents must always be there for constant reminders and guidance, but in such a way that the kid wouldn’t feel anxious towards the things that are being expected of them. In addition, power struggle between the parents and the kid shall be avoided. Implication of excessive authority from the parents towards their kids breeds awkwardness in the relationship and at most times, the kids would feel embarrassed, resented and bitter towards the role that they play in their family. Thus it results to feeling of inferiority and sometimes pushes the urge of being more independent and free from the scrutiny of their elders. It must be fully recognized that adolescents have their usual pursuits for independence. And the parents must fully understand that such thing is normal for the development of their kids, thus parents must not consider it as a gesture of rejection of kids to their parents, or a sign of them losing control over their kids. Instead, parents must take it positively as a growth and maturity stage of kids during their adolescent years. Therefore it is important that elders welcome this stage without dominating the way that the child should undergo his growth. Rather, they should pose as a consistent figure of a confidant for teenagers especially at their most critical stages. Moreover, as teens are normally in the stage of their increased curiosity towards the discovery of many things, they tend to become influenced by outside peers and may undergo crucial changes and adverse behavior. This would now require an even more challenging role to penetrate the development of a child. The parents and the whole family must make the child feel that whatever decisions and changes that he may undergo, the whole family shall always be there to offer a hand. The commitment of the family to support him will be a very effective guard that can help in developing a greater sense of responsibility and maturity towards the changes the he will undergo. Thus, as shown in the movie, the growth and development of a kid is dependent upon effective parenting. Though choices made by the kids are solely based on their own judgment, still, how they were brought up and how they felt inside the house with their families play a large part in coming up with such decisions. It is therefore an integral part of an adolescent undergoing his personal development that he constantly interacts with parents and family members. Personal relationships are indeed vital in the molding of someone’s personality, thus, how he chooses to mingle with other people and how he chooses options for growth are products of these closely knitted personal relationships. And as seen in the movie wherein the conflict started from a wish, and ended with a wish – it exemplifies that choices are made internally. Options are weighed based on the values that have been instilled within a person through the way he was reared up by his parents. Being a young boy made him impulsive in making his choices; skipping through his adolescent stage made him weary about his life and doubtful on the choices that he has made; and finally, the maturity he earned by closing in the gap of his childhood days and turning abruptly into an adult lead him to another choice – that is to start from where he had left off. He went back to his adolescent years, again from his own choices, and eventually learned from the mistakes he had through the help of his best friend and mother who was glad that he was back. Not only have gas and oil prices changed but they have made everything else go up in price. The cost of living and the way that people are living is effected by these rising costs. In this paper I will discuss the different ways that these prices are affecting everyday life. The way that everyone has changed things in there life would be transportation and business costs. Gas Prices have changed a lot over the years and it seems to be increasing in cost and that it is not going to change. According to Foreman (2008), in 1981 the cost per gallon was $1.35 and now the cost is between $2.84 to $3.23 . Some of the reasons that the cost of gas is going up is because of the rising cost of oil. Gas prices are affecting people in there everyday lives with driving, living expenses, and with the cost of their living. Families are having to set a budget for there fuel and are having to not drive as much. Oil Prices are at there highest points and the repercussion of this is the cost of gas and the cost of living. The cost per barrel is going up, at that point the cost of fuel goes up as well as everyday costs. The cost per barrel is â€Å"$91.77 to $ 100.09 ( Oil prices rise back above $91 a barrel, 2008)† , this year alone and only seems to be getting worse. The war has helped to make the cost of oil go up, because we are at war with Iraq and that is where we get our oil. There is a shortness of oil and with this the cost of oil will go up, so will the cost of living, and the cost of fuel. Across the United States individuals are feeling the high prices of gas and oil prices. These prices are starting to hurt our economy because people are not being able to travel as much as they used to be able to. Families are feeling the hurt when they do travel because when people go to go camping with there children it costs more in food then they had in there budget and same with fuel.

Dulce et Decorum est †Anthem for Doomed Youth Essay

â€Å"Dulce et Decorum est† and â€Å"Anthem for Doomed Youth† are two poems written by Wilfred Owen during the First World War. Owen, like most soldiers, joined up after being convinced that war was fun by propagandistic posters, poems and stories, and once he had realised that the truth was quite the opposite of this, he decided that it was his responsibility to oppose and protest against poets like Jessie Pope through poetry itself. People were not prepared for the sheer scale and manner of death and the mechanised nature of trench warfare, and had false expectations of the heroic endeavour, but little awareness of the realities. However, compared to â€Å"Dulce†, the anger portrayed is dramatically understated. â€Å"Dulce† is an outrageous protest, displaying the â€Å"haunting† and â€Å"bitter† effects of war, and after describing in great detail the horrific story of a soldier â€Å"drowning† and â€Å"choking† in gas, Owen reveals his passionate hatred for the false and misleading idealisms of heroism in war using particularly emphatic imagery in â€Å"cancer† and â€Å"froth corrupted lungs†. The fact that â€Å"Anthem† is a sonnet, is ironic in that they are usually about love, and because it is actually about grief, it somewhat lulls the reader into a false sense of security, therefore making the poem more effective. Both poems seem to talk about the vile and painful conditions in war, â€Å"Dulce† using onomatopoeia in â€Å"trudge†, giving the impression that war is truly appalling, immediately going against the common belief that it is a game from poems like â€Å"Who’s for the game?†. Also, true to both poems is the idea of undignified and casual death, rather than the heroic, glorious death promised by governmental propaganda. For example, in â€Å"Dulce†, Owen talks about the way they â€Å"flung [the dead soldier] in a wagon† with such brutal nonchalance. Furthermore, â€Å"Anthem† introduces a typical Victorian funeral with singing â€Å"choirs†, and juxtaposes it with the â€Å"shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells† on the battlefield, and with the constant end-stopped lines, this conveys a sense of solemn grief rather than the vicious anger in â€Å"Dulce†, which tends to use enjambment more frequently. Also, â€Å"Anthem† discusses the lack of ceremony and dignity in which people are â€Å"honoured† after their death on the battlefield, and Owen reveals his anger for this using the powerful, hyperbolic alliteration in â€Å"rifles’ rapid rattle†. In addition, the fact that the sound of machine gun fire is reflected in the phrase â€Å"rifles’ rapid rattle† presents to the reader that the harsh realities of war are indeed more than just frightening. In addition, a sense of urgency and immediacy is portrayed in the second stanza of â€Å"Dulce†, when Owen uses direct speech and exclamations in â€Å"Gas! Gas!†, while the epizeuxis and use of the present continuous tense gives further emphasis to this desperate urgency .On the other hand, â€Å"Anthem† has a strong sense of sympathy and general tranquillity throughout the second stanza, which is juxtaposed by something quite the opposite in the first. As well as this, the light lexis used in words such as â€Å"glimmers† and â€Å"tenderness† in the second stanza, give the impression that it is a poem of mourning and respect rather than anger and hate. In general, â€Å"Dulce† uses fairly vulgar and crude language, conveying his disrespect for propagandistic poets, as well as his anger at the unawareness of the dangers of war of the British public: â€Å"He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.† Owen’s use of the words â€Å"guttering, choking [and] drowning†, has numerous implications and effects. Firstly, a â€Å"gutter†¦Ã¢â‚¬  represents the bottom of society, and therefore shows how soldiers dying is in fact not a respectable act, but rather an act that is hardly noticed by society. Also, the onomatopoeic sounds of â€Å"guttering† and â€Å"choking†, give an even more emphatic image of death on the battlefield, portraying Owen’s desire for the awareness of the harsh realities of war in youth culture as well as in everyday men. Finally, the fact that Owen uses three separate adjectives to describe the horrific scene, in addition to the tri-conic feel it gives, the phrase implies that Owen could not put what he was seeing into words, and therefore persuading the reader that war is simply a catastrophic, desperate excuse for a fight, sacrificing millions of men in the process. Unlike â€Å"Dulce†, â€Å"Anthem† brings out the mournful, respectful side of Wilfred Owen through the melancholy atmosphere he creates through the modulation of harsh imagery to a more resigned tone: â€Å"The monstrous anger of the guns†¦ †¦but in their eyes Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.† This dramatic contrast between coarse and frightening imagery in â€Å"monstrous anger of the guns† and the solemn melancholy in â€Å"the holy glimmers of goodbyes† is a very moving one. This is not only because the phrase refers to tears in young men’s eyes, which in itself is a saddening image, but also because it refers to â€Å"goodbyes†, forcing a more personal image of saying â€Å"goodbye† to close friends or relatives as they go to war upon the mind of the reader, again, creating a sombre mood. In addition, the end-stopped line following â€Å"goodbyes† is very effective in that it makes the â€Å"goodbye† seem all the more sudden, harsh, and hurtful. In conclusion, â€Å"Dulce† and â€Å"Anthem†, although they are both written in protest against the deceiving propaganda made by various people, they go about it in different ways. â€Å"Dulce† is an outright outrage at individuals, which we know from Owen’s draft that it was targeted at Jessie Pope, using coarse and harsh language to do so. â€Å"Anthem† on the other hand is a more solemn and moving poem, although it starts as if it were to be an outrage, before we learn that in fact, it is only grieving for the dead and their lack of ceremony, and it becomes literally, an anthem for doomed youth.

The men have nothing much else to occupy them, and Gaz is likely to lose touch with his young son unless he can pay his debts. Then they see some women queuing to see a troupe of male strippers. Gaz, realising there's only one way left for a man to make a fast buck, assembles a rival crew - not so much beefcake as meatloaf and scrag end. Unemployed Northern men trying anything to scrape a living and uphold their dignity sure enough, The Full Monty pays its respects to Ken Loach. There's a cameo by Bruce Jones from Loach's Raining Stones, as a hapless auditioner gauchely attempting to peel off his anorak. But this is light Loach and with a more focused comic touch. What makes the story compelling is that there's more at stake than just the few bob and laughs the lads stand to make. It's dignity they hope to regain, and more fundamentally, masculinity. Fatigued and disenfranchised, they all wonder if they're still men. Dave worries about losing his wife (Lesley Sharp), Gaz is already divorced, and their suicidal pal Lomper (Steve Huison) is living a dreary celibate life. Meanwhile, Sheffield's women are still in work and ruling the roost. They've even taken over the working men's club for women-only nights. A mortified Gaz sneaks behind enemy lines to witness the ultimate horror - women not only invading the sanctity of the Gents, but pissing standing up. The vision persuades him there's only one way for men to retaliate - reclaim their widgers. The Full Monty could have been made as course material for film-studies seminars on Marxism and the Phallus. Cattaneo and Beaufoy could have gone for a harsher lampooning of male sexual attitudes, but their approach yields subtler, more tender returns. Their heroes are adolescents who don't understand women but wish they did, and eventually are only too happy to confess their inadequacies. The presence of women in the film seems a little cursory, largely restricted to Lesley Sharp, Emily Woof, a few mouthy passers-by, and the crowds of the club scenes. But that's because the men see women from the outside - through the toilet window, as it were. Excluded from the female world of adulthood, they form their own society, a Just William club of eternal schoolboys with Gaz's young son Nathan (the engagingly sour-faced William Shape) tagging along as disapproving chaperon. In Texas rearrests are frequent as prisoners can’t be kept for long. In Florida more than 3000 prisoners were released before the appointed time. Some of these states, and they are Texas, Florida and Georgia, spend too much money on death penalty without any positive result. â€Å"Over two-thirds of the states and the federal government have installed an exorbitantly expensive system of capital punishment which has been a failure by any measure of effectiveness. Literally hundreds of millions of dollars have already been spent on a response to crime which is calculated to be carried out on a few people each year and which has done nothing to stem the rise in violent crime† (Dieter). It is obvious that the high and ungrounded cost of death penalty makes the United States of America less safe as the financial facilities spent on death penalty are taken from the programs, the effectiveness of which are proved. For instance, in California the government does not have enough facilities to organize appropriate and needed policing, while it still spends much money on death penalty. Texas that is famous for the quantity of capital punishment cases, spend more than $2 million per case! It is no need to say that Texas is famous not only for the high number of death penalty cases, but also for its high murder rate. â€Å"The death penalty is escaping the decisive cost-benefit analysis to which every other program is being put in times of austerity. Rather than being posed as a single, but costly, alternative in a spectrum of approaches to crime, the death penalty operates at the extremes of pol itical rhetoric. Gender Differences in Communication   The Difference of Language Used Between Men and Woman Many have wondered why men and women are so different. Everyone knows that both genders have a different way of talking to each other but no one knows exactly why. Why do males speak differently around females than they do with themselves? Is it through gender stereotypes that cause different language features they use in their speech? Or is there an an outside influence that is causing this phenomenon? The different speaking styles males and females use to converse, shows that their conversations are limited because of the influences of society. Throughout time, males were seen to have a different style of communication with females compared to their usual conversations with their fellow sex. This could also be said for females in vice versa. In male to male conversations, men are more seen to tease and joke around with their friends through profanity, sarcasm, or humor. In addition, they tend to avoid serious and emotional topics while females have these type of topics as their every day conversations. In female to female conversations, women are more careful about the choice of words they use and reflect upon the topics of their conversations. But why do men tend do avoid emotional/serious topics and why do females have to think before they speak? Can men also talk to women as if they were talking to their fellow sex? A sample of fifty California State University of Fullerton students were observed and ask about their opinions of this matter. Forty out of fifty males have responded that revealing their feelings, private li ves, or relationships would show their weaknesses and that it would lower their status as a confident, strong male. Forty-six out of the fifty females have also stated women are more cautious about their choice of words because females tend to be more sensitive and judgmental. And when the males were asked if they can talk to females the same way they talk to their friends, most of them said they cant. They have stated that their words or jokes could be too harsh and possibly hurt a girls feeling as females tend to be more sensitive or emotional. After the experiment, it was concluded that gender stereotypes was a possible major influence in the reason why men and women both speak differently. Although it is concluded that gender stereotypes is an influence on how men and women speak, how early is one introduced and influenced to gender stereotypes? Parents are the role models for their children. Their point of view and beliefs can also influence their childrens beliefs and views. For example, a Dad will tell his son not to cry because men dont cry over trivial things or a Dad will tell his daughter that she is his princess and treats her very gently. A mom can also tell her son to never hit a girl or to never say any mean things to a girl. Therefore, the male would never speak harshly towards or girl or show weakness. Another example would be a Mom telling her daughter her words have consequences and to always be kind to others. Therefore, the female would speak in a polite matter and is cautious with her words. It is shown that the parents can unintentionally integrate the concepts of gender stereotypes in their mind to help their child fit into the social norms of what is right and what is wrong. However, how early can a child learn to differentiate their language between both genders? A study of a one day observation on fifteen preschoolers have been performed. In result, all fifteen pre-schoolers have equally treated their classmates the same. The boys would talk just as roughly to the girls as they would to the boys and the girls would also join in yelling some insults when provoked. However, in recess a boy and girl got injured while running around the slide. The teacher hold the crying girl and comforted her while the teacher aide who took care of the boy, discouraged him from crying. One can see that the children in this early age of development are still oblivious to differentiation of language in genders. Though as they grow up, their personal experience with the people they interact and the people who influence them would slowly change how they speak towards others. Men and women have different perspectives on the world of communication. Women use the language as an act of sharing and an opportunity to increase intimacy with others, as well as to   express themselves and seek advice from others. While men often more focused on small talk that often revolves around topics related to business, sports, weather, and news where they have a clear purpose of the conversation in mind. (World of Psychology, 3) There are many different types of perspective seen by both genders. But can gender change their fixed mindset to a growing mindset? What would happen if males and females were to change their perspective of language and be more tolerant towards each other? For example, would it be possible for girls to be more tolerant of what others says or for males to be more expressive in their conversations? A population of ten Fullerton College students were asked. Eight out of ten said that it would not be possible because gender stereotypes have been ingrained into our culture. Therefore, the majority of the people will always have a fix mindset about the language we use towards different genders. In spite of that, two of the ten have stated that it could be possible but it would   gradually take over a long period of time. It is evident that men and womens style of language and communication differs in many ways. The analysis of the studies performed for this research shows that the differentiation of the language between genders is due to gender stereotypes. As well as it could be also due to the fact how the person was raised and what types of people he or she was surrounded with. Although both genders speak the same language, the choice of words have been limited because of the pressures of the societys norms. Lorraine Hansberry's work is about a black family in the Chicago's South-Side after the Second World War. The family consisted of Mama(Lena Younger), Walter Lee(her son), Ruth (his wife), Travis (their son), and Beneatha (Walters younger sister). The two main characters in the play, Mama and Walter, want this money to be used for the benefits of the whole family. Even though both of them want to benefit the family, each one has a different idea of what to do with the money and how to manage it to benefit everyone. Walter Lee, like his father want's his family to have a better life and want's to invest the money in a liquor store. Walter want's the money so that he can prove that he is capable of making a future for his family. By doing well in business Walter thinks that he can buy his family happiness. Walter has dreams. Dreams he most likely got from his father. Dreams of better life for his family and himself. A dream of financial security and comfortable living. Ruth, on the other hand is stable and down to earth. She doesn't make rash choices to accommodate a dream. She will just make do with what she has. Mama is a loving person, she is wise but lives in the past. She is happy to have her family with and be safe from society. She thinks that money is not something that makes a family happy. Besides dreams Walter also has a husbands responsibilities which are universally thought of as being able to support his family and raise his children so they are morally in line with what he believes in. Walter's problem, however, seems to be that he is building his supposedly well thought out plan of investing money in a liquor store into something he is infactuated with. Analysing A Scene from the play ‘A View from the Bridge’ Showing the P Play Writes Skills as A Dramatist   The paly which I analysis is by Arthur miller called â€Å"a view from the bridge†. In this play I analysed a scene which is the chair incident. In this essay I will be writing about what lead up to the chair incident. I will be also analysing the skill that Arthur Miller uses and write down its function.This play is set in America in 1960s. This play is about the Carbone family who brings two brothers who are Italian immigrants. There are six main characters, Eddie who is married to Beatrice, Catherine who is Eddies nice. The layer is Alfiera. The two immigrants are Marco and Rodolfo. At this time Italy was very poor and it was illegal for immigrants to come in America. Eddie helps his Italian cousins Marco and Rodolfo by smuggling them to America so they can provide for their family. When they by a ship they get jobs as longshoremen. Marco has a wife and two children and Rodolfo is single.  The events which led up to the chair incident is the boxing incident. This is where Eddie decides to teach Rodolfo boxing for self defence as he is to vulnerable. For example he says â€Å"I’ll teach you† to Rodolfo. This incident suggests that Eddie is trying to embarrass Rodolfo in front Catherine. This will make Catherine think that Rodolfo is nothing but a man mouse and Eddie is a man. Marco reacts to this by â€Å"rising† from his chair. This gives the audience the impression that Marco is going to do something to get his vengeance this builds up tension between Marco and Eddie as Marco is very protective over his brother Rodolfo. This leaves the audience feeling overwrought as they are wondering how Marco is going to get his vengeance. In the chair incident Marco gets his revenge for his brother. Firstly the atmosphere is tranquil; this is where Rodolfo and Catherine dance together. For example in directors notes is says â€Å"he took her hand; they go to the phonograph and start it.  This is when Marco decides to teach Eddie a lesson. Marco says â€Å"can you lift this chair†. Eddie thinks this is just a game but he doesn’t know what Marco’s ingenious plan is as he says â€Å"what do you mean† the gives us the impression that Eddie hasn’t got a clue of what Marco is planning. This is when a lot of tension and suspense builds up as it makes the audience aware of what Marco is planning. This also makes the audience think that Marcos plan must be vicious as he is ‘shy ‘. This implies that Marco is a very bashful and quiet person. Also the audience know that Marco is a person not to joke around with as Eddie says â€Å"nobody kids with Marco†. This gives the aud ience the impression that Marco is a very serious person. Eddie falls in Marcos trap when he lifts the chair. Eddie ‘grasps’ barely lifting the chair. This suggests that Eddie is struggling to lift the chair with straight with his arm. But Eddie does not give up ‘he tries again and again but fails’ this is what Marco wants Eddie to do. This gives us the impression that Eddie is putting all his effort to lift the chair and is trying vigorously to lift the chair. Also the audience now think he is weak and slow-witted for not realizing Marco plan. At this moment a lot of anxiety and tension is created. Marco then decides to lift the chair as it says in stage directions ‘with strain slowly raise the chair higher’. This symbolises that Marco is giving out a warning to Eddie. Marco raised the chair ‘higher’ then Eddie which indicate Marcos status and authority over Eddie as the height of the chair suggests that Marco has more status then Eddie.  There are many features of this scene that make this a climatic scene as in directors notes it says ‘Marco is face to face with Eddie a strike of tension gripping his eyes and jaws’ this is when Eddie finds out what Marco is happening to him. ‘Eddie grin vanishes as he absorbs his look’ this gives us the impression that Eddie feels apprehensive from the impact of the warning from Marco. I am a single mother of 3 wonderful kids: Gaylon, Dante and Madeline. I am currently employed at Texas School of Business in Houston, Texas. This organization is owned by Kaplan Higher Education. I am the Program Director for the Dental Assistant Program. I have been with the organization for 8 years.While working at TSB, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Management/Healthcare Emphasis and Masters of Science in Management/Healthcare Emphasis. I am currently working on my Master of Business Administration. I will be complete with my degree in April 2013. Upon completion of this degree, I will get my specialization in Human Resources. My getting this advance education will be critical to the success of my future plans and goals. Mission Statement My future goal is to open my own dental assistant school.My plan is to have a school that will accept those who do not currently hold a high school diploma or GED. To me, these are the people who need the most help to become productive citizens and be able to provide for their families. While they are obtaining this skill (dental assisting); I will also be helping them obtain their GED. A mission statement â€Å"documents the purpose for an organization’s (person’s) existence. Mission statements often contain a code of conduct to guide one in implementing the mission† (De Kluyver & Pearce, 2012). A personal mission statement provides clarity and gives you sense of purpose. It defines who you are and how you will live. My mission statement is: I seek to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through development-appropriate instruction that allows for individual differences and learning styles. I will promote a safe and caring environment. I will strive to have the community and de ntal community actively involved with educating the students. Vision Statement A vision describes some achievement or some future state that the organization will accomplish or realize.It inspires, clarifies, and focuses the work of an organization for a significant time. A vision differs from goals, which express the steps of a plan for accomplishing an objective. A vision differs from a mission statement, which explains an organization’s reasons for existence or for seeking its objectives (Cartwright & Baldwin, 2006). My personal vision for my future plans and goals is structured around four elements that set out the long-term direction for my future – where I want to go and how I am going to get there: I will work to create a better future for the prospective student †¢ I will help people feel good not only about themselves but also about their life by giving them a skill that will be a life-long accomplishment †¢ I will inspire people to take small steps that can add up to a big difference for their future †¢ I will develop new ways of teaching to be able to reach out to the different learning styles of my students My vision will tell the Greater Houston area and surrounding communities that we care about our underserved people. It captures the importance of education and family.Environmental Scanning The environment that I will be operating in is the for-profit proprietary arena. This area has been hard hit the last couple of years as Congress has had an issue with the tuition that most of these types of school charge their students. Also on the talk is the outcome ratio. Both of these will be discussed later. Political Politics play a part in just about everything that is done in world. Starting a for-profit, proprietary school is going to take some knowledge of what the government will and will not let you do.Tuition is one area that will need some attention, as Congress is looking at schools and paying close attention to th eir prices. Does the price of tuition match what the student can make once they have completed the course? I will have to make sure that the price does match. Competition will be steep and in order for me to be successful, I have to have the ultimate advantage. Economic The economy is not in its best state right now and so I will have to make sure that I am putting out a product/service that is not only needed but wanted. One advantage I will go for is getting the money of the government.My focus will be on those individuals who receive government assistance and is looking to better their lives. I will go after those that the government will pay to go back to school and eventually become productive citizens in the community. The medical field is going to be a wide open career path in the future (if not already) and I want to be able to train those to be self-reliant. A person’s economic factor could have an impact on whether they attend school or not. If they are on public as sistance, there is a chance they cannot afford a student loan or a monthly payment. Many of the schools require students to make payments on institutional loans while in school. Many students cannot pay the monthly payments on institutional loans while they are in school and as a result are often terminated from the schools or are denied transcripts† (NCLC, 2011). By them getting help from the government, if is a win-win for everyone. Social The social impacts that I may face are lifestyles and demographics. In today’s society not every child coming out of high school wants to attend a four-year college.For this reason, for-profit school is their best choice. They want to learn a trade and in a short amount of time. This could be because of their home life, their learning habits or the area in which they live. â€Å"Trade schools perform the advertised function. They teach you all of the facets of a specific vocation and prepare you for a job in that field. Afterward, you will have already gained during school to immediately apply for job. When you graduate from a university, often students do not have experience in their field of study† (Vohwinkle, 2012).The fast-track training that the students will receive, will give them the opportunity to get out in the community faster and start making a living for them and their families. Technological Technology is a very growing area and one cannot be successful if they are not up on the latest. In the dental field, most dental offices are now â€Å"digital and paperless†. It will be my responsibility to make sure that I teach my students how to function in a digital environment. In order to do this, I must be proficient in this area.If I will be successful, I must know what new procedures and technology is being used in the dental field. â€Å"Dental technologies have been evolving continually, helping to transform the field of dentistry. New technologies are developed with a focus on crea ting products and developing techniques that can be used by dentists to help prevent, diagnose and/or treat dental conditions and diseases early and effectively† (Ranft, 2006).
